I was randomly looking up torture devices in the medieval time period. Some of the methods were absolutely gruesome. I thought some of the torture ways to get information from "enemies of the state" were intense, but they don't even compare to this magnitude. One of the worst I have heard was when they would put the individual into a coffin-like structure after making them drink curdled milk. The individual would proceed to throw up all over themselves. They would be placed on a body of water to float and the mosquitoes would be attracted to this and make their nests in the human feces. They would end up burying themselves inside the body and work their way out. The victim would die in an average of 17 days of torture.
