Israel and Syria

I try to keep up on my current events around the world to stimulate my ideas and conceptual grasp on "progress" and societal norms revealed in the actions and events that occur. On this day Israeli forces fired warning shots into Syria after a mortar round was fired by the Syrians which hit the Israeli post in Golan Heights.This is the first time since 1973 that Israel has fired on Syrian forces. That was during the Middle East war. The two countries are formally at war. There have not been any injuries because of the event but warning shots were the response of the incident. However, a previous incident of the killing of a leading intelligence figure and critic of President Bashar al-Assad has had the countries on high-alert.
