Jaishri Abdichandani: An independent artist, Jaishri Abdichandani works with various mediums. Her intentions with her artwork is to compose pieces which ignite relationships and evoke emotional responses regarding current events. She is considered a conceptual and political artist, and her feminist South Asian American background seems to be captured in her work. She produces installation, sculptures, paintings, and exhibitions that focus on issues of gender and power.
Abichandani was born in Bombay, India and immigrated to New York City in 1984. She attended Goldsmith's College in 2004 to receive her MFA.
